How to set up a TruSkin Ad Campaign
This guide explains how to set up, schedule, and run a TruSkin advertising campaign using AdRotate.
What Is a TruSkin Campaign?
A TruSkin campaign is a premium site takeover format that can include: a header banner at the top of the website AND/OR a background skin displayed on the left and right sides of the website.
The formatted styling of the website is controlled through dedicated AdRotate ad groups.
When a TruSkin header or background ad is actively displaying (based on its schedule), the website automatically switches to TruSkin styling.
Before You Start: What You’ll Need
1) Visual Ad Assets from the Client
Background skin: 1920 × 1080 pixels.
Key visible areas are the left and right sides (460px wide on each side).
Header banner: 1000 × 250 pixels.
Header height may be adjusted in future - confirm specs if unsure.
2) Campaign Schedule confirmed with the Client
Confirmed start and end dates for the TruSkin campaign.
This information is required to create the AdRotate schedule before the ads are displayed on site.
Step 1: Upload Assets to the WordPress Media Library
Once assets are received from the client:
- Ensure they match the correct dimensions listed above
-
Upload the header and background images to the WordPress Media Library
-
Name the files clearly and consistently (e.g.
year-clientname-truskin-header.jpg,year-clientname-truskin-background.jpg) -
Copy the direct image URLs for each asset
These image URLs will be used when creating the ads in AdRotate for the next step.
Step 2: Create the Ads in AdRotate
The same way you would set up any MREC or Skyscraper ad, create the required ads in AdRotate:
-
One header ad, with relevant client campaign link inserted
-
One background skin ad, with relevant client campaign link inserted
- Name the ads clearly and consistently (e.g.
2026 Qatar TruSkin Header,2026 Qatar TruSkin Background)
Use the direct image URLs from the Media Library when setting up each ad.
Make sure both ads are 'Enabled' so they are considered active.
Do not include the ads in any AdRotate ad groups yet. This will be done in the next step.
Step 3: Create the TruSkin Campaign Ad Schedule
Create a new schedule in AdRotate for the TruSkin campaign:
-
Set the start and end dates for when the TruSkin campaign should be live
-
Make sure to enable tracking of impressions and clicks
- LEAVE THE IMPRESSION LIMIT FIELD BLANK
-
Assign this schedule to the header and/or background ads
-
Name the schedule clearly and consistently (e.g.
2026 Qatar TruSkin Campaign Schedule)
This schedule will control when the ads display as well as when TruSkin site styling becomes active.
Step 4: Include Ads in the Correct TruSkin Ad Groups
Once the ads and the schedule are set, include the ads in the dedicated TruSkin ad groups:
-
TruSkin Header Group → Scroll down to find the header banner ad and tick the checkbox. Remember to save.
-
TruSkin Background Group → Scroll down to find the background skin ad and tick the checkbox. Remember to save.
Step 5: Set the Website Background Styling for the Campaign
This step sets the website background styling, which will automatically go live when a TruSkin header or background ad is showing.
In the backend of Wordpress, go to: Appearance → Customise → Additional CSS
At the top of the Additional CSS, locate the following section:
body.truskin {
--site-bg-color: #7b02f5;
--content-bg-color: #efefef;
}
Update:
-
--site-bg-color: Set this to match the TruSkin campaign background colour if necessary. -
--content-bg-color: Controls the background of the main content area:-
#efefef→ The standard site content background colour -
transparent→ Allows the TruSkin background artwork to show through behind content
-
These changes can be made in advance and will only apply when a TruSkin ad is actively displaying.
Step 6: Final Checks
Before the date of campaign launch, confirm:
-
Assets are uploaded and named correctly in the Media Library
-
Ads are using the correct image URLs, and each link to the client's desired campaign urls
-
Ads have the correct schedule attached, and the schedule runs for the correct dates
-
Ads are in the correct TruSkin ad groups
-
Website background colours are updated and saved
Step 7: Campaign Runs Automatically
When the scheduled start time is reached:
-
The TruSkin ad(s) will go live and display automatically
-
TruSkin website styling activates automatically
-
Styling is removed when the schedule ends
No further action is required.
Important Notes
-
TruSkin website styling only shows when an ad is both 'enabled' and scheduled to display
-
TruSkin website styling will not appear outside the scheduled campaign window
-
If the website theme is updated or changed, the TruSkin setup may need to be reviewed.
